Educate your children to stop smoking:


It is a heart wrenching moment when we find out that our child is addictive to smoking cigarettes. We are adults and know of cigarette’s harms better than when we were teenagers. A teenager child may not realize this. As an adult, we find it greatly distressing that our teenage child smokes. It’s because we don’t want our children to experience the bad effects of tobacco. We are very well aware that our child has picked the worst habit associating a lot of dangerous harms with it. In such a scenario, we are not supposed to be panic and start scolding our children to leave that habit immediately, yet we understand it’s not possible just like that. It has to be done in a proper way i.e. educating your children with the very harms of tobacco and how they weaken your strengths and so and so forth.

Few steps are really helpful in ensuring safety of your child:

1.       It’s a natural phenomenon that children learn from their parents whatever they do in front of them. If you are smoker yourself then the first need you need to do is to make your child believe that you have left the smoking practically and discuss with him all the bad effects of smoking like causing a lot of severe diseases like lung cancer, heart diseases and respiratory problems. And also practice good habits in front of him such as eating healthy food and doing exercises and stuff. On the contrary if a child sees his parents doing something either good or bad, there is a great probability he would do the same. Parents are recommended to practice good things while they are around their children.


2.   Explain to your kids the undeniable harms, smoking brings with it. You can start by explaining them the functions of heart and lungs and how they are affected by the smoking. While you see a person smoking on TV, try to criticize him in front of your kids and make them feel that smoking is one of the worst habits one can become addictive of.

3.   Tell him how smoking robs the charm of the face causing it to look pale. Encourage him by telling the advantages of a healthy life and how important is the physical fitness in one’s life.

4.      Let him involve in the healthy activities like playing cricket, football, gym and exercise and also to make good friends unlike the bad company. Kids should be appreciated for all the healthy steps that they take and vice versa on bad steps taken. Listen to what they want and do not just go ahead and impose your things on them forcefully. Develop a mutual consent with them.

5.   Children require a lot of time from their parents and when they see they are not being given enough time by their parents, they definitely try to look for other alternatives to please themselves and kill their time.
